Gretna sailed out of the doldrums with this win over Preston Athletic; settling the game before half time with goals from Anderson on 31 minutes and Smith on 38.

Athletic struck back after the break through a penalty converted by Beaton but Gretna had the game under control and Anderson put matters beyond the Panniers with his second goal in 76 minutes.

An entertaining first half finished goalless with Gretna having most of the pressure and Star dangerous on the break. Both goalkeepers were called upon to make impressive saves but more shots were wasted than were on target.

The only goal of the game came in the second half. Parker was adjudged to have handled outside the box and Sloan scored from the resultant free kick.
